The Big Block track frameset represents our vision of the ideal track frame for the modern fixed gear rider. This is the bike that we've always dreamed of building and we are proud to make that dream available to you. Each size frame has been evaluated for optimum tubing butt placements, diameter, and wall thickness. Attention to detail is our mantra, and it shows in every aspect of this bike. It soaks up bumps, sprints like mad, and begs to be ridden hard. Ride it on the street or take it to the boards, the Big Block will hold up its end of the deal wherever you choose to ride it.

Listen to veteran fixed gear riders long enough and they'll start to wax philosophic about fixies, how the bike is an extension of one's body, how the simplicity and the silence are pleasing to the senses, how riding one is at first unnerving and later addictive. We won't try to convince you that riding "fixed" is better or special or why you should try it. You'll have to determine that for yourself. But whether you're old school or new hat, you'd be hard pressed to find a better canvas to build your ideal street machine.

The Nature Boy is our single speed cross racing monster. It was named after a Minnesota professional wrestling legend and carries all of the AC hallmarks that you've come to love: straight blade fork, classic paint, custom dropouts, and signature headbadge. It was designed primarily as a race rig, but since we knew that many of you out there would be using this thing for every day life, we built in additional features to make it more versatile.

The Karate Monkey is Surly's 29" wheeled do-everything mountain bike. Why 29"? Because larger diameter wheels offer more traction and the have the ability to roll up and over obstacles better. The traction is enhanced by having a longer contact patch of rubber on the ground, which helps prevent your rear wheel from slipping on loose terrain and allows you to maintain your speed through corners. 29" wheels also have more air volume, so you can lower the air pressure more than you are accustomed to with an equivalent 26" tire. This enhances both the traction and rollover characteristics. Whether riding through babyhead rocks, braking bumps or tree roots, you'll notice yourself getting through these sections much easier.

Finally, the Cross Check. We've offered the Cross Check as a frameset and as a complete bike for years. In fact, The Cross Check was our first complete, and the only one or a while. People use it for commuting, light touring, singletrack riding, hauling kids, just about anything you can do on a bike. It has changed very little over the years because it works very well as it is. There's a new color option this year and some minor changes (we gave it a better saddle. In fact, all the completes now sport a WTB SST saddle), but otherwise it is the same bike that has been used by more people for more things than almost any other bike we can think of, Surly or otherwise.

The Pacer is not what most race-inspired roadies seem to drool over. It isn't on the cutting edge of design, it isn't made of the latest ultra light super-expensive materials, and it isn't festooned with lots of bright colors and graphics. Rather, it is a road bike made of our favorite material, cro-moly steel, using frame geometry that makes it fast and efficient like a road bike should be, but it is not a racing bike. This is a frame meant for all day rides. There are a lot of other road frames out there that are flashier, more exotic, and full of promises most riders only dream of fulfilling. The Pacer doesn't make promises. It's simply a great riding steel frame.

The Long Haul Trucker is built, as you might expect, as a touring bike. But it does a lot of other stuff really well too, like commuting, day trips, double centuries, and of course beer runs. It is set up with a triple crank, a reasonably wide-range rear gear cluster, and large-ish, comfy tires. Add racks and you're ready to haul. The steel frame is designed to be stable and supple even when fully loaded with gear. Other bikes, 'converted' road bikes you might call them, simply don't handle big loads as well. And of course, its got rack and fender mounts front and rear, three bottle mounts, even a spare spoke holder.

By now you know that Pugsley was created to go where standard all terrain bikes flounder. The floatation and traction afforded by large-volume, low-pressure tires can get you over and through otherwise unrideable terrain, such as sand, mud, wet rocks and roots, ice, and many kinds of snow. Wide, low-pressure tires are easier than standard tires on whatever terrain you pass over because they don't dig in as easily.
